Megías Mushrooms, S.L. has been involved in the mushroom sector since over three decades agoFirst as a stockist and later as a manufacturer and trader of preserved mushrooms. Its founder, Ignacio Megías, wanted from the beginning to the quality of its products, providing the company with means and qualified personnel. So, today, Mega Mushrooms continues investing in new robotic solutions that allow the automation and improvement of both their products and the quality of life of their workers.
The project
At Atlas Robots we designed a robotic cell for the box palletisation at the Mega Mushroom facility.
The cell is characterized by a modular belt conveyor that transports the trays inside the cell from the exit of a retractable oven. From there they are palletized by the robot in the two docks arranged for this purpose.
The process
The access of the boxes
The boxes have access to the cell through a retractable oven. A modular belt conveyor picks them up from the Mega Mushroom line to the inside of the cell, at an optimal point for the robot to pick them up.
These collection areas are equipped with sensors that allow the robot to know and analyze the production as it passes by, thus facilitating the collection and ensuring that everything is produced in an optimal way.
The capture tables are equipped with sensors to provide the robot with reliable positioning of the boxes at all times. In addition, they have a retractable stop that locks the position of the boxes or lets them pass to the palletizing area according to the programming.
Taking the boxes
Once on the capture table, the robot performs the collection of the trays.
The robot positions itself on top of the boxes and descends, where it closes the shovels until the box is completely secured.
With the box taken, the robot ascends ready to palletize it.
Palletizing
The robot, with the box picked up, moves to the pallet and leaves it in the desired position according to the previously programmed mosaic.

Output of full pallets
When the palletizing of a dock is finished, this pallet is removed from the cell manually by an operator.
Replacement of empty pallets
Replacement with empty pallets is also done manually by an operator on the pallet positioning basins
