The project
RUGAR has a new robot that stacks pallets or grids of different formats, depending on the production chosen. These pallets enter the cell via a roller conveyor and exit via another section of rollers in an automated manner.
During the customer visit, a clear need for automation was detected. Palletizing pallets as a product becomes a load to be lifted by the operators, which could eventually cause injuries. Therefore, a robotic cell is proposed that will automate and speed up the palletizing process of pallets.
The design phase
The main engineering challenge to be solved is the optimal stacking of the pallets. Some pallets have irregularities, which when stacked, can cause the grill to fall when it reaches a certain height. This was solved by equipping the robot with sufficient sensors so that it can correct its own movements and always stack accurately.
Manufacture and installation at the end customer
The delivery time to the customer for a pallet racking robot is usually 90 days. If the solution is very standard we can reduce the delivery time. In this case, the robot was producing at our customer's factory in 80 days
